Cut each idli horizontally into two halves. Lightly toast them with butter on a pan until golden.

In a bowl, combine mashed potatoes, peas, chili, spices, salt, and breadcrumbs. Mix well and shape into round patties.

Heat oil in a pan and shallow fry patties until crisp and golden on both sides.

Spread green chutney on one idli half and ketchup on the other.

Place lettuce (if using), followed by a patty, onion rings, and tomato slices. Cover with the other half of idli.
